Toyota Motor Corporation is set to launch a completely redesigned Land Cruiser this summer, and the new model promises to be the best yet. The SUV is still body on chassis, but now works with a new GA-F platform, according to Toyota, reducing the vehicle's overall weight by 440 pounds, with a lower center of gravity. The Land Cruiser has adopted the latest Toyota Safety Sense active safety package with additional advanced features, such as automatic emergency braking (front and rear) and a crash prevention feature designed to help the driver overcome obstacles. To reduce emissions, the Land Cruiser abandons its traditional V-8 for a pair of twin-turbocharged V-6 engines. On the outside, the new Land Cruiser has pursued functional beauty in line with the Land Cruiser tradition, such as the light positions and the shape of the bumper that are unlikely to be damaged during off-road driving.
In addition, the new Land Cruiser has adopted the new parking support brake, which helps prevent accidents by recognizing obstacles in the front and rear of the vehicle in a parking lot, when approaching vehicles when the vehicle is backing up and pedestrians. Toyota equipped the new Land Cruiser with its electronic kinetic dynamic suspension system (E-KDSS) to improve road performance. In terms of environmental performance, Toyota aims to reduce global CO2 emissions by approximately 10% * per year compared to the previous model, combining the newly developed Direct Shift-10AT (10-speed automatic transmission) with a lighter body weight. Having achieved all these developments, Toyota plans to launch the new Land Cruiser worldwide starting this summer. With these objectives in mind, Toyota adopted the new GA-F platform based on TNGA, while maintaining the chassis structure, which is the base that protects the essence of the Land Cruiser. Based on these improvements in features, as well as the improvements achieved through driving tests carried out by members of the evaluation team - including internal drivers with advanced or master-level technical skills and drivers who had participated in the Dakar Rally - Toyota set out to create a car that was easy to drive and does not tire out its driver easily both on and off road. The Lexus LX twin of the Land Cruiser is expected to live on a V-6 turbo instead of the current 5.7-liter V-8 engine.
However, with these applications in mind and in order to continue to meet customer expectations of the Land Cruiser as a vehicle that promises to take you anywhere (26%) everywhere and return alive and safe, Toyota has been advancing and evolving the Land Cruiser by establishing an increasing development and evaluation strict standards as needed, based on actual usage situations of customers around the world. In addition, Toyota redesigned the character of the Land Cruiser by merging technologies accumulated over many years with more recent ones, to achieve improvements such as reducing vehicle weight, reducing center of gravity, adopting a new powertrain and new interior and exterior designs. The vehicle's length, width and wheelbase, as well as approach and departure angles are all unchanged from before at most trim levels according to Toyota. With these objectives in mind and its commitment to providing mobility for all while creating happiness through innovative, safe and high-quality products and services, Toyota is sure to deliver an amazing experience with its new Land Cruiser.
