Imagine visiting a different country every day. On a cruise, you can visit several islands, cities, and entire countries in a week or two at sea. When you're sailing in the Caribbean, you can visit Aruba, Bonaire, Grenada, and the Bahamas within 10 days. Or, on a South American cruise, visit the exotic city of Rio de Janeiro, explore the rainforests of Limón (Costa Rica) and enjoy spectacular wine tastings at Santiago de Chile.
Even if you don't have many vacation days on your calendar, you can still enjoy the thrill of a cruise over the weekend. However, cruise ships offer a lot of integrated planning that allows passengers to sit back and relax at sea. Last month, I took my first cruise as an adult (previous cruises had been with my parents) and I found it to be a very revealing experience from a cultural point of view.
